1986 Topps Football is loaded with players. It features the Jerry Rice rookie card which is one of the highest valued rookie cards in the entire era of the 1980's. There also is a Steve Young rookie card, Reggie White, Boomer Esiason, Andre Reed, Bruce Smith, Bernie Kosar, Gary Clark, and some more lesser known players. It truly is a remarkable set as the highlight list does not stop there. The card set books at $120 high book value per the Nov/Dec 2006 Beckett Plus Price Huide and a factory set books even higher than that. Unopened wax and rack boxes are expensive and for the good rate on those, a search on ebay might be a good idea (there is an ebay widget on our main site page).
The rookie cards are incredible and with there being only 396 cards in the set, a wax or rack box would yield more than one card of many players in many instances. Also, a highly graded version of one of the cards could bring several hundred dollars or more, especially of Jerry Rice. The highlight list of rookies (while very impressive) does not even include the hall of famers and stars including Warren Moon's second year card, Dan Marino and John Elway's third year cards, Joe Montana and so many more. It is absolutely littered with $4 booking and higher cards and even the cards like a $2 Gary Clark rookie card (all book prices per the Beckett Plus referred to earlier in this post) have decent demand. I just think of it, a Gary Clark rookie card is awesome, I dont have one but I sure would like to have one in my collection!
Finding wax or rack boxes at a significant discount from the average market price is a chore. I never could, then again I did not spend much time looking around at prices for them because they are out of my personal price range when I purchased cards before. A box of those cards would be a great present for someone, and out of all of the sets in the 1980's from football cards, this is one of the top if not the top set from the 1980's. People might argue that the 1981 Topps or the 1984 Topps are better, but these have to be the best three. If you have these cards congratulations, they are highly sought after! Unopened packs and boxes are even better and a cello or rack pack with a Jerry Rice rookie on the top or the bottom of the pack will fetch top dollar.

Here are some items for sale from this set 1986 Topps Football
Though you will not find a factory set of these cards most likely (they can be found I believe, but at higher prices as they are rarer), a good near mint to mint condition set is often placed for sale. Unopened wax boxes, cello boxes, and rack boxes are very fun of these cards too, though pricey. I think a rack box would be a great Christmas present, with 396 cards in the set and about 1,152 cards in a rack box, that would make about 3 Jerry Rice rookies on average based on random odds (Wow!).
