1979 Topps Football Cards

This is a great vintage year, 1979 Topps Football cards contain key cards of star players in addition to great rookie cards. Rookies include Earl Campbell, Doug Williams, Ozzie Newsome, James Lofton and Donnie Shell (there are more good rookies than this but these are the highlights). Star players include Walter Payton, Roger Staubach, Steve Largent, Tony Dorsett (2nd year) and Terry Bradshaw. In the Beckett plus price guide I am looking at, Walter Payton books at $20.

This is a great entry-level to mid-level set to start your vintage football card collection. Listed below are the current ones for sale updated in real time.

Though you will not find a factory set of these cards most likely (I am not aware if any ever have existed), a good near mint or better condition set is often placed for sale. Unopened wax boxes, cello boxes, and rack boxes are very fun of these cards too. I opened a rack box of 1980 and 1982 Topps football cards before and got many great cards.
